THE management of private residences like condominiums, apartments and gated and guarded housing areas can instruct residents to do a Covid-19 test should they feel the need to do so, said senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

While there is no such policy, it is acceptable for the management to make such a request, he told a briefing on Covid-19 movement restrictions today.

“We are not stopping the condo management or those of any housing area as it to ensure the safety of residents,” the defence minister said.

He was responding to a question about several apartment management bodies demanding that foreign workers living in their buildings take Covid-19 tests due to the spread of the virus in their community.

Some management bodies have allegedly threatened tenants with eviction if they fail to do so. – January 28, 2021.
