PRASARANA staff, who were in close contact with chairman Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, have been told to take Covid-19 swab test after he revealed he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a statement, the public transport provider said Tajuddin had been to his office over the past two days.

“Tajuddin entered the office on Monday morning for a meeting with several senior officers.

“He also went in for a meeting the following morning and went straight to hospital for a test as soon as he found out that Nazri Aziz was positive for Covid-19,” the company said in a statement.

The Pasir Salak MP had earlier this month attended a press conference together with Umno’s Padang Rengas MP Mohamed Nazri Aziz, who yesterday announced he had tested positive for Covid-19.

He joins a list of Umno MPs who have also tested positive for Covid-19, including National Unity Minister Halimah Mohamed Saddique and Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

Prasarana said that officers and staff under Category B, who had close contact with Tajuddin have been instructed to undergo swab tests for Covid-19 today, while people who did not have direct contact with the MP are to quarantine at home immediately for 10 days until January 29 or until their respective Category B contacts return negative for the virus.

Meanwhile, in the statement, the company also confirmed that the entire Menara UOA building, which houses the group’s headquarters in, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, has already undergone comprehensive ‘deep decontamination’ to ensure it is free of the virus.

However, the company also said it will repeat the process today following the revelation that its chairman tested positive.

Prasarana said its office would operate as usual, following the National Security Council’s standard operating procedures, with only 30% of the management division allowed to enter, while other staff have been instructed to work from home until the end of the movement control order. – January 20, 2021.
