12 new clusters today

MALAYSIA today reported 12 new clusters, the second highest number of clusters reported in a single day so far.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there are now 284 active clusters.

He said seven out of the 12 clusters were linked to workplaces.

Of this, he said, the Damai construction site cluster in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur saw the highest number of cases with 130 infections.

He said the Jalan Telok Gong and Lingkaran Lintang factory clusters in Klang, Selangor, saw 108 and 25 cases respectively.

He said the Putra cluster linked to a restaurant in Putrajaya infected 19 people.

Noor Hisham said the Persiaran Selatan cluster in Johor reported 61 cases while the Jalan Kluang and Kampung Perani clusters each reported 18 cases.

He said the Persiaran Selatan and Jalan Kluang were workplace clusters while Kampung Perani was linked to a symptomatic index patient.

Noor Hisham said Sabah registered two clusters, namely Baturong and Matamba which reported 54 and 20 cases respectively.

Other clusters reported today were Pondok Hidayah in Kelantan(15 cases); Kota Road in Perak(18cases) and the Tembok Kemus detention centre cluster(22 cases). – January 15, 2021.
