More than 150,000 foreign workers have taken test, says minister

A TOTAL of 153,585 foreign workers have undergone the Covid-19 test a month after the order was made compulsory by the government, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“5,697 employers were involved in sending their foreign workers to be tested,” he said.

Starting January 1, 2021, the government ordered all foreign workers, especially in six states – Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Sabah, Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Labuan – to undergo the Covid-19 test.

Ismail Sabri said 816 clinics have been involved in the screening test programme.

The senior minister had previously said Putrajaya will take legal action against employers who fail to send their foreign workers for Covid-19 screening. – January 15, 2021.
