THE Sibu district in Sarawak has been placed under the movement-control order (MCO) following an increase in positive Covid-19 cases, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“From only two positive cases, now there are 251 cases, and most of the cases are from the Rumah Panjang cluster involving 18 long houses.”

“We have agreed to impose the MCO for 14 days in Sibu, (including) Selangau and Kanowit, from January 16 to January 29,” Ismail Sabri said.

Sarawak, however, is still under the recovery movement-control order (RMCO) as the state has the fewest active Covid-19 cases.

Six states have entered its third day of MCO after it was introduced on Wednesday.

Today, Kelantan became the latest state to go under MCO after recording high positive Covid-19 cases.

Penang, Selangor, Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan), Malacca, Johor and Sabah will be under the MCO from January 13 to January 26.

A conditional MCO is being enforced in Pahang, Perak, Negri Sembilan, Kedah and Terengganu. – January 15, 2021.
