FORMER finance minister Lim Guan Eng was today present at the northeast district police headquarters in George Town today to give his statement over remarks he made in 2019.

Lim said he was asked to give his statement over two press releases he made in 2019 to police officers from Bukit Aman.

The DAP secretary-general questioned why he was called to give his statement during the movement-control order.

Accompanied by lawyers R.S.N. Rayer and Ramkarpal Singh, he arrived at the police headquarters at about 2.30pm and left almost two hours later.

Lim, who is former Penang chief minister, was supposed to have his statement recorded on December 24 but it was cancelled after disputing the timing being just one day before Christmas.

Earlier, district police chief Soffian Santong, when contacted, confirmed Lim was present but declined to elaborate.

“Yes, he was present. Investigations were done by a team from Bukit Aman,” he said today. – Bernama, January 14, 2021.
