FACE-to-face meetings in government and private sectors are not allowed, including workshops, seminars, conventions and exhibitions, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

These rules also include politicians and VVIPs in movement-control order (MCO) and conditional MCO areas, he said.

“If they want to hold a meeting, they can carry on virtually.

“The National Security Council, which meets three times a week, also holds it virtually.

“As for press conferences, if there is a wide gap, then it is allowed,” Ismail Sabri said.

He added that for now, the daily Defence Ministry press conferences will continue.

He also clarified other movements allowed under the MCO, such as allowing media personnel to travel as long as they showed their media passes.

Police and army who are manning roadblocks will be reasonable, he added

For example, if there are two children and the parents have to send them to school, more than two passengers are allowed in a vehicle.

Employees who travel must also have a letter of permission from their employers, he said.

As for operating times, he said the authorised economic sectors can work from 6am to 8pm during the MCO.

“Petrol stations can open from 6am to 10pm except for those on highways, which can operate 24 hours.” – January 12, 2021.
