SIX Thai rangers and a civilian woman were injured in separate shooting and bombing incidents in the conflict-stricken south today.

Sisakorn police station assistant chief investigator Captain Kitti Jaihai said the first incident occurred at 9.40am when four rangers travelling in a four-wheel drive were shot at while passing through Jalan Kampung Dahong-Kampung Bilok in Narathiwat.

“Unknown individuals fired multiple shots at the vehicle, and caused all of the rangers to sustain gunshot wounds,” he told reporters in Narathiwat.

He said a civilian woman was wounded by a stray bullet.

Investigators found 10 bullet shells at the scene.

In the second incident some 30 minutes later, two rangers, who were helping the victims in the shooting, sustained injuries when a bomb exploded not far from the scene.

The two incidents are among numerous shooting and bomb attacks reported to have occurred in several locations in southern Thailand since last night. – Bernama, December 26, 2017.
