FORMER prime minister Najib Razak has criticised ministers for attending meetings and functions even after a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Mustapa Mohamed, was tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

In a Facebook post, Najib said the ministers should have gone into quarantine and the Health Ministry (MOH) should have classified them as close contacts to Mustapa.

The Jeli MP tested positive after being screened upon his arrival in Kota Baru from Kuala Lumpur yesterday morning.

“Why are the ministers still attending programmes even after Tok Pa (Mustapa) was tested positive yesterday.

“MOH should have listed them as close contacts and should have placed them in quarantine.

“And why was Rina (Woman, Family and Community Development minister Rina Mohd Harun) still allowed to attend two programmes yesterday,” Najib said.

Rina was the latest minister to have tested positive for Covid-19 after Mustapa confirmed he had been infected by the coronavirus last Saturday.

In a statement this morning, Rina said she was admitted to the Sg Buloh hospital this morning.

Two ministers identified as close contacts of Mustapa after attending a cabinet meeting last Wednesday have gone into self-isolation.

They are Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof and Communications and Multimedia Minister Saifuddin Abdullah.

Both had sat next to Mustapa during a meeting in Putrajaya. – January 11, 2021.
