5 new Covid-19 clusters reported today

FIVE new Covid-19 clusters were detected today, all of which surfaced after Covid-19 screenings, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

They are located one each in Johor, Penang, Sarawak, Malacca and Terengganu.

The new clusters take Malaysia’s tally to 581, 58 of which reported new cases today.

The new Mikro cluster in Johor is linked to a factory, where 97 cases were detected after 588 people were screened. 

In Penang, the Symphony Magazine cluster in the Timur Laut and Seberang Perai districts, 44 people have tested positive for the virus after the index case was reported on January 1,.

In Sarawak, the index case for the Pasai cluster in Sibu and Mukah was screened after he travelled interstate.

Seventy-three people have been screened so far in connection with the cluster, 38 of whom have been found to be infected.

Clusters Teknologi Kesidang (Malacca) and Palut (Terengganu) were detected after symptomatic people were tested for infection. 

Teknologi Kesidang has 18 cases, and Palut, 10. – January 9, 2021.
