UMNO must keep working with PAS in Muafakat Nasional (MN) as splitting up would benefit Bersatu, Padang Rengas MP Nazri Abdul Aziz said.

A breakup is exactly what Bersatu wants, he said of the Umno splinter party leading the Perikatan Nasional government.

“Don’t be angry with PAS. Instead be angry with those who want to break up our pact with PAS.

“If we split with PAS, they will have won. If we split with PAS, they will come in and divide us,” Nazri said today in Kuala Lumpur.

He said it is Bersatu and not PAS that is working to cause a rift in Umno.

Nazri said there was no reason for Umno to dissolve the MN pact with PAS as both parties share the same goal of uniting the Malays.

However, Nazri said Umno is ready to stand without PAS in the next general election if it comes to that.

“We are an old and strong party and if we have to contest alone, we can do it.

“As a political party, we should always be prepared to contest alone.” – January 9, 2021.
