MALAYSIA reported 2,027 new Covid-19 cases today, taking the total number of cases in the country to 122,845.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor logged the most daily infections by state, with 509 cases, or 25.1% of today’s total.
Selangor is topping the list for the sixth consecutive day.
It is followed by Johor with 428 cases (21.1%) and Sabah with 383 cases (18.9%).
“In Selangor, 338 infections were from clusters and active contact tracing,” he said in a statement today.
Eight people died of the coronavirus today, taking the death toll to 509.
Five of the deaths were in Sabah, two in Selangor and one in Perak.
Four of the deceased had underlying medical conditions and four did not have a medical record.
Malaysia saw 1,221 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 99,449.
Of the total 122,845 infections, 22,887 remain active. Of these, 123 are in intensive care, 52 of them on respiratory support. – January 5, 2021.
