PUTRAJAYA has terminated the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) at the Langkap immigration detention depot today, and placed two areas in Kota Baru in conditional MCO starting tomorrow, senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

The Langkap immigration detention depot and staff quarters in Hilir Perak district was originally scheduled to end its EMCO on January 14, 2021.

“The Health Ministry (MOH) has completed the screening tests on all detainees and staff.

“The ministry confirmed that the detention depot shows a declining trend of daily positive cases.

“The situation there is controlled with no remaining samples pending for results,” Ismail Sabri said in a statement today.

As for Mukim Peringat and Mukim Kota in Kota Baru, the ministry reported an increase in Covid-19 cases.

“These two areas have contributed the highest number of cases in the Kota Baru involving two main clusters, namely the Halban Cluster and the Pintu Geng Cluster,” Ismail Sabri said.

Therefore, the government agreed to implement CMCO in the two mentioned areas from January 4 to January 17.

“The implementation of CMCO is to enable the ministry to carry out targeted screening and to reduce movement among communities in both the areas,” he said. – January 3, 2021.
