Nine new clusters, four in workplaces

HEALTH authorities have detected nine new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Noor Hisham said five of the clusters – Seri Lanang, Jalan Chu, Tapak Bina Awan Puteh, Integra Ikon and Jalan Satang – were detected in the Klang Valley following screenings.

He said four of them involved workplaces, including construction sites.

Meanwhile, he said the four other clusters were Tembok Mempaga in Pahang, cluster Timbang Dayang and Teguli in Sabah, and cluster Rambai in Malacca.

The new clusters bring the number of active clusters to 220, of which 50 recorded new cases today.

Noor Hisham said 498 virus clusters have been reported since the pandemic began, including the nine today.

The nine clusters today recorded a total of 612 cases.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said 278 clusters have ended since the onset of the pandemic, including the three clusters that ended today – the Blue Boat cluster, Gedong cluster, and Jernih cluster. – December 29, 2020.
