NEW Year celebrations and mass gatherings are banned this year, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the country continues to grapple with the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said that there are many ways to usher in the New Year but it will not be in public places.

“For instance if families want to celebrate at home then it is allowed.

“However, mass gatherings for New Year are not allowed,” he said during a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Ismail Sabri said that celebrations and mass gatherings are still under the list of prohibited activities.

“For example, there celebrations at KLCC in the past, but now it’s not allowed because it involves mass gatherings and there will be no control on social distancing,” he said. – December 28, 2020.
