MALAYSIA hit a new record high of daily Covid-19 cases today after reporting 2,335 in the past 24 hours.
Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases have brought the caseload to 103,900 while active cases stood at 20,035.
The highest daily figure recorded prior to today was on December 10, when the country saw 2,234 new cases in a single day.
He said Kuala Lumpur topped the tally with 728 cases followed by Selangor with 710, and Johor with 412.
On recoveries, Noor Hisham said 874 people were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
With this, he said the total number of recoveries from the coronavirus now stands at 83,414.
Noor Hisham said two deaths were also reported today, raising the national death toll to 451.
Meanwhile, 108 patients are currently warded in the Intensive Care Unit, of whom 50 require respiratory support. – December 26, 2020.
