THE PAS Syura Council has confirmed the decision to end ties with PKR. The PAS spiritual arm, however, left it to the central committee to decide if PAS lawmakers should leave the Selangor government.

Syura Council secretary Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh announced the council’s decision in a statement after their meeting today.

The Syura Council said PKR had broken three rules in their political cooperation.

It said PKR did not support but were against the Islamic agenda by opposing PAS’ motions, such as RUU355.

PKR were also alleged to have broken the spirit of their cooperation by attacking PAS leaders and making false statements which were detrimental to PAS’s image.

Syura Council said PKR had also betrayed their partnership by working with a third party to try and bring down the state government in Kelantan and went against PAS during the by-elections in Sg Besar and Kuala Kangsar.

“However, in the interest of Islam and the people, we will leave it to the central committee to decide on the political action necessary with regards to the Selangor state administration,” said Nik Zawawi.

PAS has 13 lawmakers in Selangor with three – Iskandar Abdul Samad, Zaidy Abdul Talib and Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi –  in the Selangor executive council.

During their recent annual congress in Alor Star, delegates from the Ulama, Youth and central wings all voted to end their political cooperation with PKR. – May 11, 2017.
