A TOTAL of 1,880 healthcare workers have tested positive for Covid-19, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Noor Hisham said since December 15, 52,593 health workers were screened for the virus.
He said the Ministry of Health has also been notified of an increase in infections among health workers in red zones and high-risk locations.
“Based on the Health Ministry’s investigations, the majority of the infections were from healthcare workers (33%) and from the community (33%).”
The announcement by Dr Noor Hisham comes a day after he revealed that some health workers had gone to work despite exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms.
“MOH would like to emphasise on the importance of complying with Covid-19 infection control and prevention measures among health workers while working in health facilities and especially in the community,” he said in a statement. – December 22, 2020.
