FOUR out of eight new Covid-19 clusters identified in the past 24 hours were related to workplaces, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

This is the second consecutive day that the country has reported the same figure.

Noor Hisham said with the eight new clusters, this puts the country’s active clusters at 206 with 52 reporting new cases today.

He said a total of 428 positive cases have been detected in the four workplace clusters – Bina Residen, Bukit Naga, Bina Kasih and Bina Sinar View – all in the Klang Valley.

The other four clusters were detected through symptomatic individuals in Sabah, Selangor, Johor, and Perak.

The Tapak Bina Resident cluster involved a construction site in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur that was subjected to mass screening. There are 294 cases in the cluster currently.

The Bukit Naga cluster involved a construction site in the Klang district in Selangor that was subjected to testing for Covid-19 has identified 58 positive cases.

The Tapak Bina Kasih cluster involved a construction site in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur which currently has 43 cases. Meanwhile, Tapak Bina Sinar View cluster, another construction site in Kepong recorded 32 cases.

The Pasar Baru cluster involved the Klang and Kuala Langat districts in Selangor where the index case was diagnosed on December 15 after complaining of symptoms.

As of today, 2,001 individuals related to this cluster have been screened, of which 309 returned positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the Paginatan cluster was also identified through a symptomatic individual in Ranau, Papar and Kota Belud in Sabah has recorded 47 cases.

In Johor, the Tampoi Jaya cluster has recorded 32 cases, with the Rapat cluster in the Kintan and Perak Tengah districts in Perak recording only seven cases.

All four of these clusters were detected through symptomatic individuals. – December 22, 2020.
