Eight new Covid-19 clusters were detected in the last 24 hours, two of which were traced to symptomatic individuals, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Six of the clusters – Peka Puri, Batu Besar, Tower, Bina Pelangi, Wawasan and Delima – were in the Klang Valley.
One each was found in Labuan and Penang, called J Bandar and May Indah, respectively.
Six of the clusters were linked to the workplace.
Noor Hisham said the country currently has 201 active clusters, 44 pf which reported new infections today.
The Peka Puri cluster saw the highest growth among the new clusters, at 202 new infections after 769 close contacts were screened.
It is followed by the Batu Besar cluster with 59 cases, May Indah (27), and J Bandar (25).
Malaysia has recorded a total 451 clusters so far.
Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said the Teja Kasih, Permatang, Kejora, Bayan, Numbak dan Danau clusters were officially resolved today. – December 21, 2020.
