MALAYSIA recorded 2,018 Covid-19 cases today, the third highest daily figure so far, said Director-General of Health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said in the past 24 hours, 1,084 patients have recovered from the virus and released from hospital care.
The total number of recoveries from the coronavirus now stands at 95,327, while the overall number of cases is 95,327, with 16,496 active cases.
Selangor recorded 1,200 new cases – the highest number by state – followed by Johor (278) and Sabah (247).The country also recorded one death of a foreign national, which brings the death toll to 438.
The deceased was a 50 year-old man who died in Hospital Tuaran, Sabah.
A total of 243 cases reported today were related to clusters in prisons and immigration detention centres involving the Tembok Gajah cluster (234 cases), Jalan Harapan Prison cluster (6) and Tembok cluster (3).
To date, there are 109 Covid-19 positive cases being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), of which 55 cases require respiratory assistance. – December 21, 2020.
