PUTRAJAYA has extended the conditional movement-control order (CMCO) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah until December 31.

The extension in Selangor does not apply to Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor, which are subject to the recovery MCO.

The current CMCO expires on December 20.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the extension today, citing the increase in Covid-19 cases in industrial areas in Selangor.

“The Health Ministry has confirmed there was a significant increase in Covid-19 positive cases in 19 industrial districts in Selangor – Klang, Hulu Langat, Petaling, Gombak, Kuala Langat, and Subang following the screening of manufacturing and construction site workers,” he said at today’s daily briefing on movement restrictions.

He said the number of Covid-19 cases among citizens is also increasing.

“There are several new clusters found in the results of screening in workplaces.

“Therefore, the government agrees that CMCO be extended until December 31.” 

Yesterday, Selangor reached a total of 22,931 positive cases, and Kuala Lumpur 9,426 cases.

In Sabah, a total of 33,823 cases were recorded. 

“Within 14 days (December 2 to 15), the ministry confirmed the number of daily Covid-19 cases across Sabah is still high and most of the clusters are from residential areas involving citizens.

“The ministry also expects a spike in cases, following screening of foreign workers that just started on December 16.” 

Other areas with CMCO extension until December 31 are Mukim 12 and Mukim 13 in Penang; Ipoh and Chemor in Hulu Kinta district, Perak; Johor Baru, Batu Pahat and Kulai, Johor; Seremban and Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan.  

He also announced the end to partial lockdowns on December 20 for Kulim district, Kedah; Kubang Kerian and Kusial districts, Kelantan; Changkat Jong district, Perak; and Kota Tinggi, Johor. 

“Enhanced MCO in flats in Paya Terubong (Relau) in the northeast district, Penang will be extended until December 31. 

“There are still blocks that have not reached 40% of screening and requires more time to continue testing,” Ismail Sabri said. 

Other areas with similar EMCO extensions until December 31 are Desa Bistari Flats Block A and B, Batu Uban in the northeast district, Penang; immigration detention depot and staff quarters in Hilir Perak district, Perak; and the Seremban prison and prison quarters, Negri Sembilan. 

“EMCO in residential areas in Mukim Sg Seluang, Kedah ends on December 20,” he said.

The termination of EMCO on December 20 also applies to the Yamaha factory workers dormitory in Perak; and Madrasah Ad-Diniah Al-Falahiah, Kg Dalam Huma, Pasir Puteh in Kelantan.

“We will execute EMCO in Kluang prison and prison quarters until December 31. The ministry has confirmed an increasing number of cases among detainees and staff,” Ismail Sabri said. 

“All other areas in Johor remain under recovery MCO.” – December 18, 2020.
