AFTER three consecutive days of reporting more new Covid-19 cases than recoveries, Malaysia today reported 1,309 recoveries to 1,229 new cases.
The total number of recoveries in the country is now at 69,393 or 83.1% of total cases in the nation.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new infections, 435 cases or 35.4% of today’s total were recorded in Selangor, followed by Sabah with 333 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 131 cases.
“344 or 79.1% of cases in Selangor are recorded in clusters and through Covid-19 contact tracings,” Noor Hisham said in a statement today.
This would be the sixth consecutive day that Selangor, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur recorded the most number of cases, in that order.
Today, Malaysia recorded four fatalities, taking its death toll to 415 or 0.5% of total cases here.
Of the victims, two succumbed to the illness in Selangor, and one each in Negri Sembilan and Kelantan.
Three victims, including the oldest for the day, had underlying medical conditions, while the youngest victim today, who was 29 years old, had none.
The number of active cases in the nation now stands at 13,677, with 115 in intensive care and 65 of them requiring breathing assistance. – December 13, 2020.
