THREE new Covid-19 clusters have been identified in the country and one of them includes a construction site, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The construction site cluster was named the Bina Cendana cluster, which involves the Lembah Pantai, Titiwangsa and Cheras districts in Kuala Lumpur.
A total of 175 individuals have been screened in this cluster and thus far 11 positive cases have been reported, including 10 foreigners.
“This cluster started reporting Covid-19 cases starting December 10 as a result of targeted screening at the workplace involving construction sites,” Noor Hisham said in a statement today.
The second cluster reported today is Bukit Gemok and this cluster involves the Tawau district in Sabah.
As of today, a total of 10 positive cases have been detected from 71 people screened.
The index case for this cluster was reported positive for the virus on December 5.
The final cluster identified is the Dang Mutiara cluster, which spreads over Gombak district in Selangor as well as Dungun and Kemaman districts in Terengganu.
From 102 people who were screened, 10 positive cases have been reported in this cluster.
Besides this, Noor Hisham said the clusters reporting high numbers of cases are Jalan Harapan Prison involving the Sg Buloh prison (565 cases) followed by Rumah Merah in Sabah (112 cases) and the Berangan construction site (69 cases).
Today’s three new clusters bring the number of total clusters in the country to 410.
189 clusters are active, with 56 of them still reporting new cases.
A total of 221 clusters have ended in the country to date, including today’s four clusters.
The four clusters are Abell (Sarawak), Seridana (Putrajaya), Limbungan and Bina Labuan (both in Labuan). – December 12, 2020.
