PEJUANG has filed an application at the high court today to order the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to make a decision on the party’s registration.

Pejuang secretary-general Amiruddin Hamzah said the party wants RoS to either allow or reject the party’s registration.

The application was filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today, said Amiruddin in a statement.

The party also wants the court to declare that the RoS’ decision in not answering queries by the party on its registration was unreasonable and done in bad faith in order to delay the registration.

In the application, the party said it is unable to properly register new members as a result of the delay on its registration, adding that it wants to be prepared in time for the next general election which it believes will be held soon.

Last month, Pejuang founder Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he has not received approval for the party’s registration from RoS although all requirements have been met.

He said approval for the party’s registration now depends on the minister in charge.

“We have fulfilled all the conditions required by the government, but the decision (approval) must be referred to the minister,” he had said.

RoS is a unit under the Home Ministry and the current minister is Bersatu’s Hamzah Zainuddin.

Pejuang was formed by former Bersatu members who fell out with the leadership after the party withdrew from Pakatan Harapan in late February, triggering the collapse of the then government.

On October 29, Amiruddin said it had been more than two months since the party submitted seven requests to RoS but until now his party has not received a written reply from the home minister or RoS.

RoS later informed that the application to register Pejuang was still under review. – December 10, 2020.

  • Typical tidak apa attitude of a majority of civil servants in many government departments, makan gaji buta and pretend to be busy.
