COVID-19 recoveries in Malaysia outpaced the number of new cases today, with 1,068 patients having recuperated from the virus in the last 24 hours compared to 959 new infections.
This is the second straight day that the number of recoveries topped the number of new cases.
Director-general of Health Dr Noor Hisham Abduallah said, of the new cases, Selangor had the highest number of new daily cases for a second consecutive day with 277 cases.
“Selangor recorded 277 cases or 28.9% of today’s total, followed by Sabah with 203 new cases and Kuala Lumpur reporting 129 cases,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.
The number of new cases today brought the nation’s Covid-19 tally to 76,265, while the number of recoveries in the country is at 65,124.
Besides this, Malaysia today reported five fatalities, taking the death toll in the nation to 393.
Two deaths were reported in Johor and Sabah respectively while the last one was reported in Kuala Lumpur.
All the victims are men, with the oldest being an 82-year-old from Sabah who had no medical history.
The other four victims had underlying medical conditions.
There are still 10,748 active Covid-19 cases, with 127 under intensive care while 61 require breathing assistance. – December 9, 2020.
