Two new virus clusters today, a construction site among them

Two new Covid-19 clusters have been reported today, one involving a construction site that has infected 15 so far. – The Malaysian Insight pic, December 8, 2020.

TWO new Covid-19 clusters have been found today, one of them involving a construction site, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. 

He said the Bina Darul construction site cluster spread across various districts. 

It involves the Titiwangsa, Cheras, Lembah Pantai areas in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Sepang, Kuala Langat and Klang districts in Selangor and Seremban, Negri Sembilan. 

He said 14 Covid-19 cases have been detected in this cluster from 240 people screened. 

“Positive cases in this cluster have been reported starting December 6, as a result of targeted screening in workplaces involving construction sites,” Noor Hisham said in a statement today. 

The second cluster is Seruling, which involves the Klang, Hulu Selangor and Petaling districts in Selangor.

A total of 2,267 people have been screened in this cluster and of them, 109 have tested positive for the virus.

Besides this, he said, clusters that have reported highest cases additions are Teratai cluster (78 cases), Batu Tujuh cluster (52) and Ria-30 cluster (33).

Today’s two additional clusters brings Malaysia’s total cluster to 392, with 185 still active. 

Of them, he said, 41 clusters have reported new cases. 

Besides this, four clusters have ended today. They are Melati, Kempas, Titir and Tempayan.  – December 8, 2020.
