MALAYSIA has registered 1,012 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload in the country to 75,306.
This would be the sixth straight day that the nation has recorded more than 1,000 daily new cases.
In a statement, the Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new infections, Selangor topped the cases by state, with it recording 417 cases or 41.2% today’s total number.
He said Sabah was second on the list with 271 cases (26.8%) followed by Johor with 108 new cases (10.7%).
Noor Hisham said a total of 1,750 patients were discharged from hospitals today, taking the total recoveries in the country to 64,056 or 85.1% of cumulative cases in the country.
Besides this, he said there were four fatalities reported today, bringing the death toll to 388.
He said all four deaths today were recorded in Sabah and were women, with the youngest aged 33 and oldest being 92 years old.
He said three victims had underlying medical conditions while a 90 year old foreigner had no prior record.
Noor Hisham said the number of active cases in the country currently stands at 10,862, where 126 of them are admitted in the ICU with 62 requiring respiratory assistance. – December 8, 2020.
