11 Covid-19 deaths today, second highest since pandemic began

MALAYSIA reported 11 Covid-19 deaths today, the second-highest number in a single day since the pandemic began, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The last time the country reported double-digit deaths in a single day was on November 3, when 12 people died from the coronavirus.

Noor Hisham said in a statement Selangor and Sabah each recorded three deaths while Johor reported two.

Meanwhile, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan, and Kelantan reported one death each.

All 11 fatalities today were Malaysians, putting the country’s total death toll at 376. 

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said there were 1,075 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, of which three were imported. 

Noor Hisham said there were also 948 recoveries today, bringing the tally to 57,917.

Out of the 1,075 infections today, Selangor, Sabah, and Johor account for the bulk of cases.

Noor Hisham said the Klang Valley recorded 508 cases, with Selangor reporting 459 fresh infections, followed by Sabah (310) and Johor (78).

Today’s tally brings the national caseload to 69,095, with 10,802 still active.

To date, there are 166 patients being treated in intensive care, of whom 46 require respiratory assistance. – December 3, 2020.
