MALAYSIA recorded more Covid-19 recoveries than new cases for the third consecutive day, with 1,522 people discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, director-general of Health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,472 new cases, of which five were imported.

The total number of recoveries from the coronavirus now stands at 56,311, while the overall number of cases is 67,169, with 10,495 active cases.

Selangor recorded new 819 cases, the highest number by state, followed by Sabah (267) and Negri Sembilan (146).

The Teratai cluster in Selangor contributed 52.9% of the national and 87.3% of the state caseload today.

However, Dr Noor Hisham said that, over the past week, most states have stabilised in the number of cases reported daily.

“The recently reported cases are coming from construction sites and factories, hence the high number of daily cases is due to increased contact tracing,” he said.

The country also recorded three deaths, which brought the overall number of fatalities to 363.

Two of the deceased, a man, 51, and a woman, 64, had a history of diabetes.

Meanwhile, the third victim was a 24-year-old man with no medical history of note.

All three deaths were reported in Sabah.

As of today, there are 120 people in intensive care, of which 44 need respiratory assistance. – December 1, 2020.
