THE government today agreed to lift the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at Putra Point Nilai in Negri Sembilan and a religious school in Padang Rengas, Perak.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the decision was made after no new infections had been detected at either location since November 26.

“The locations both recorded their last infection on November 26. As such the government has decided to lift the EMCO at Putra Point Nilai and SABK Maahad Al-Yahyawiah today,” said Ismail Sabri.

The order’s expiry comes earlier than scheduled for SABK Maahad Al-Yahyawiah, where the EMCO was to originally supposed to end on December 5.

“After assessing the situation at the school, we decided to end the EMCO early,” the minister said at his daily briefing on movement restrictions due to Covid-19.

Initially, the school was placed under the EMCO from November 8 until November 21, before the order was extended until December 5.

Almost 1,000 people, including students and teachers, have been screened. Of which, 129 people tested positive.

As for Putra Point Nilai, where there was infection among migrant workers, health officials have screened 444 people with 320 returning positive. – November 30, 2020.
