4 new virus clusters, all linked to workplace

HEALTH authorities today reported four new Covid-19 clusters, all of which were linked to workplaces.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were now 176 clusters in the country.

In Sabah, routine screening of workers turned up 43 infections in what is now known as the Tuaran cluster.

Screening at a factory in Seremban led to the discovery of the Haruan cluster. So far the cluster has 118 reported cases, 108 of them foreign workers.

The Bina Puteh Lama cluster was unearthed at a construction site in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur, leading to the screening of 820 people, 139 of whom turned out to be infected.

Penang is home to the fourth new cluster, called Beringin, which has logged 37 cases in the Timur Laut, Barat Daya, Seberang Perai Selatan and Seberang Perai Tengah districts.

“The cases in this cluster are workers in two factories in Penang,” he said.
