SIX new Covid-19 clusters have been reported in Malaysia today, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
There were two clusters reported in Sabah, both from Tawau.
The first is the Bot Biru cluster, where a total of 17 people tested positive from 23 screened.
Block 31 is the second cluster where, as of today, 13 have tested positive for the virus from 26 screened.
“In both the clusters, the index case was reported positive for the Covid-19 virus as a result of symptomatic screening,” Noor Hisham said in a statement today.
The next cluster is Gemilang from Johor Baru and stems workplace infection at a logistics company.
As of today, 95 people have been screened for the virus, of which 26 returned positive.
The fourth cluster is the Tapak Bina Sungai Udang cluster in Kuala Lumpur, centred on a construction site.
The index case in this cluster was reported on November 22 after workplace screening.
As of today, from 196 screened, 11 have tested positive.
Next, the Chengal cluster from Kota Baru and Machang, Kelantan.
From 254 people screened here, 15 have tested positive.
The final cluster identified today is the Damar Laut cluster. This cluster involves the northeast and southwest of Penang island, and Padang Terap in Kedah.
A total of 651 people have been screened here and 13 have tested positive for the virus.
“The first five cases in this cluster were reported Covid-19 positive as a result of symptomatic screening between November 21 and 25,” Noor Hisham said.
With the addition of six new clusters today, the cumulative total is now 345.
There are 173 active clusters in the country, of which 44 are still reporting additional cases.
Besides this, two clusters have ended today – Tuguson and Seri Gaya – both coming from Sabah.
A total of 172 clusters have ended in the country, as of today. – November 26, 2020.
