THE significant increase in new Covid-19 cases are linked to workplace clusters, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said there were 119 workplace clusters in the country, where 36 have been declared over while 83 are still active.

“We have screened 77,201 individuals and 12,079 were found positive. This involved 4,398 Malaysians and 7,681 non-Malaysians,” he said.

He said the Teratai cluster in Klang recorded 4,035 cases, Damanlela in Petaling Jaya (1,539), Cergas in Klang Valley and Negri Sembilan (1,337), Hentian in Klang Valley (1,101) and Kaya in Klang Valley, Johor, Kelantan and Perak (900).

Noor Hisham said there are 167 active clusters in the country including those at workplaces.

“Until today, we have recorded 334 clusters and currently, there are 167 still active. Out of this number, 36 have logged an increase in daily infections today alone.

“The clusters that recorded an increase are Teratai (1,511 cases), Tembok (103) and Bintang (69).

“Only one cluster ended today and that is Bah Layangan in Labuan,” he added. – November 24, 2020.
