TWO men who were caught on CCTV robbing and assaulting a woman at a pharmacy in Jalan Gombak, Setapak, on Saturday night were arrested several kilometres away in a hotel at Jalan Pudu, hours after committing the crime.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Superintendent Rajab Ahad Ismail said a group of police officers tracked the suspects to a hotel lobby early on Sunday.

“The suspects, aged 31 and 40, were detained and police seized some clothing worn during the robbery.

“We believe they were also involved in several other robberies and car break-ins in Setapak and Sentul.

“They have admitted to selling the stolen items to a third party, who is currently being traced.”

“Both have a long list of criminal records and one of them is also on the police’s wanted list for a drug-related case,” Rajab said.

The suspects, who have a long list of previous convictions, will be taken to court today for a remand order.

The duo had assaulted the woman and ran off with her two gold necklaces, worth about RM10,000, at the pharmacy in Jalan Gombak on Saturday night.

CCTV footage at the pharmacy the woman being slapped by one of the robbers after he had snatched the necklaces.

The suspects then escaped in a Perodua Myvi fitted with false number plates. – November 24, 2020.
