PUTRAJAYA has lifted the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) in Taman Mesra Sandakan, Plaza Hentian Kajang and Medan 88, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi in Sepang.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said all three areas have shown significant improvement and the Covid-19 spread contained.

“In Taman Mesra Sandakan, the Health Ministry has conducted 1,171 tests and there are 174 cumulative cases.

“However, the ministry only detected 43 active cases from day one of EMCO until November 21.

“Therefore, we have agreed to lift the EMCO, but residents will still have to abide by the conditional movement-control order in Sabah.”

Taman Mesra was first placed under lockdown on October 28 for two weeks and had its order extended until November 24.

“For Plaza Hentian Kajang, as of November 22, the ministry tested 5,752 people and recorded 462 cumulative cases.

“Following ministry advice, the National Security Council today agreed to lift the EMCO in Plaza Hentian Kajang,” he said, adding that residents are still subject to the Selangor-wide CMCO.

Plaza Hentian Kajang was placed under EMCO from October 28 to November 24.

“Meanwhile, for Medan 88 in Salak Tinggi, the ministry had conducted 619 tests and recorded 56 cases.

“The virus is under control and Putrajaya has agreed to lift the lockdown on Wednesday as announced earlier,” said Ismail Sabri.

Previously, the ministry urged some 400 residents missing from Medan 88 to come forward and be screened for Covid-19.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said these residents, who fled the area after the EMCO was announced, could have been illegal immigrants.

The lockdown in Medan 88 started on November 12 and involved 88 shoplots, 284 premises and 800 residents.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the NSC had agreed to extend the EMCO in Kuching, Kg Sabah Baru in Lahad Datu and Putra Point Nilai in Negri Sembilan.

“The EMCO in Kuching was supposed to end yesterday but there are still 58 cases involving several clusters.

“We will extend the lockdown until Friday,” he said.

As for Kg Sabah Baru, the senior minister said the order was supposed to end today, but the locality has seen 200 cases.

“We are going to extend the order for another two weeks until December 7.

“As for Putra Point Nilai, there are still 314 cases. A second screening was conducted today and test results are pending

“The lockdown is being extended another seven days until November 30,” he added. – November 23, 2020.
