THE National Security Council will hold discussions with the Communications and Multimedia Ministry to decide if there is a necessity to cancel all entertainment shows after an artist tested positive for the virus.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said so far no decision has been made by the NSC and the matter will be discussed before a conclusion can be made.

“I am aware of the incident and I was informed that the singer did not contract the virus while performing.

“We will discuss with the ministry (Communications and Multimedia) if there is a need to close down all entertainment shows,” he said.

It was reported yesterday that the third episode of the semi-finals of the music contest Muzik Muzik on local channel TV3 had been postponed, after singer Alif Satar confirmed he had tested positive for Covid-19.

Alif had performed on the first episode of the semi-finals at Plaza Alam Sentral in Shah Alam on Friday.

The singer and actor said he has been undergoing mandatory treatment and quarantine at a medical centre in Malacca since Sunday.

Last week, Ismail Sabri said entertainment events such as awards night, Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian, would proceed as scheduled as it was not prohibited under the conditional movement-control order (CMCO).

He said such events were included under the category of entertainment events that were allowed subject to SOP. – November 23, 2020.
