THE number of new Covid-19 infections is back to four digits today, but the silver lining is that recoveries outpaced new cases.

Health director general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 1,405 people have been cured of the virus today, taking the number of recoveries to  40,493, while today’s 1,041 new infections brings the total caseload to 53,679.

Three people in Sabah – two men and a woman –  have died, bringing the death toll to 332.

Noor Hisham said they were all above the age of 55 and had underlying medical conditions.

He said Selangor reported the most infections, with 402 cases.

This is followed by Sabah recording 346 cases, and Negri Sembilan recording 121.

The last time Sabah did not report the highest number of cases was on November 16, when Kuala Lumpur recorded 392 cases against the Bornean state’s 288.

Noor Hisham said the Tetarai cluster contributed to the spike in cases in Selangor.

“The Teratai cluster in Selangor contributed 298 cases, or 74.1%, of the total cases in the state today,” he said in a statement today.

As of today, 108 patients are in intensive care, with 45 of them requiring breathing assistance. – November 21, 2020.
