KELANTAN was placed under the conditional movement-control order (CMCO) after interstate travel caused a spike in the number of cases, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The Director-General of Health said that one of the reasons for the infections in Kelantan was because of cases from red zones returning to the states.

“The interstate travel has caused the cases to spike.

“For example, those from clusters in  Cheras, Klang Valley and Negri Sembilan returned and infected others,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Earlier, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Kelantan was placed under CMCO starting tomorrow till December 6.

He said Kelantan has been placed under CMCO following a marked increase in the number of cases in the state.

Noor Hisham said the ministry is concerned because many people travel between states and this is a factor that has caused the rate of infection to increase.

“We are also worried about the clusters, because in a short time the virus can spread even up to Besut (Terengganu) and other areas.”

He said the only way to curb the spread is for everyone to stay at home.

“We hope that all Kelantan folk will stay at home. If they need to go out then follow the standard operating procedure (SOP).

“If they stay at home then the state will be able to return to recovery movement- control order (RMCO) in two weeks,” he adds. – November 20, 2020.
