FOR as little as RM25, you can adopt an animal and help to provide for its upkeep in Zoo Negara,

You may even get to visit your adopted animal at the zoo under the Adopt an Animal programme.

Zoo Negara deputy president Rosly@Rahmat Amat Lana said despite the movement control order, many new donors had stepped forward to care for the zoo inmates.

“We received overwhelmingly positive feedback as is evident in the many encouraging and compassionate words shared on various social media platforms. The number of donors increased, especially from April to August, with almost 50,000 donors.

“Other than the traditional media, our team also utilises the zoo’s Instagram and Facebook accounts. We hope to expand further by offering livestreams of updates and to interact with viewers in real-time via a dedicated YouTube channel,” he told Bernama, today.

For animal lovers to contribute directly through the ‘programme, Zoo Negara has partnered with Ticket2U, Maybank2U, Lazada and Shopee since 2017.

He said the programme that allowed the public to symbolically adopt 30 types of animals provided valuable funding for the zoo.

On how much the programme contributed to Zoo Negara’s revenue, Rosly said that could only be determined when the CMCO was lifted.

To donate, visit Ticket2U or the Zoo Negara online shop on Lazada and Shopee.

“Zoo Negara gets the financial support to take care of our animal family. In return, the donor receives an e-certificate of adoption and other gifts according to the selected adoption package.” – Bernama, November 20, 2020.
