THE Plantation Industries and Commodities has launched the “Sawit Anugerah Tuhan” (Oil Palm is God’s Gift) campaign in recognition of the industry’s contribution to the country, besides raising awareness about its benefits and nutritional values to the community.

Minister Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said the international and national-level campaign, which is organised by the ministry through the Malaysian Palm Oil Council, would focus on the role played by the industry in the country’s socioeconomic development.

“Besides, the contribution of the sector to the food and non-food industries, including health products and environmental conservation will also be emphasised,” he told a press conference after launching the campaign in Parliament today.

Khairuddin said various promotional activities to encourage the involvement of the public would be carried out nationwide through various platforms, with integrated programmes implemented physically and virtually.

He said the campaign would prioritise the use of new media and social applications by applying elements of education, awareness, visual appeal and values in conveying the message to the community.

“Oil palm is a very special gift from God and has various advantages. These will be depicted through the introduction of the campaign official logo based on the concept of greatness and sustainability of oil palm through a combination of four beautiful colour combinations,” he said.

At the pre-launch campaign today, the ministry distributed 550 masks adorned with the official campaign logo to MPs, dignitaries and the media to signify the country’s effort in countering the Covid-19 pandemic. – Bernama, November 19, 2020.
