FEDERAL Territories Minister Annuar Musa will sue Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai over claims the former sold 42 assets belonging to Kuala Lumpur City Hall in the past eight months.

Annuar said, until now, there has been no application by City Hall to the ministry to sell assets or land banks under its purview.

“I have never received any application to sell City Hall assets.

“This is a serious allegation made by (Cheras MP) Tan Kok Wai.

“I’m disappointed and upset with the allegations (against me),” Annuar told a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.

Tan yesterday said 42 plots of land in Kuala Lumpur had been sold since Annuar became Federal Territories minister.

Tan questioned the status of the sales and demanded an explanation from the minister.

Tan said the City Hall-owned lands were sold to private sector entities for development as housing projects, mixed-commercial development and others.

Annuar said the issue could have been resolved in Parliament but he (Tan) decided to bring it out of the chambers.

“So, I have instructed my lawyers to take legal actions. I view the allegations very seriously.

Meanwhile, DBKL also denied the allegations.

According to its checks, 42 private land owners applied to change their land use, population density and plot ratio in the Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020.

The Federal Territory Planning Act of Kuala Lumpur 1982, (Act 267), provides for landowners to change the land use zone, population density and plot ratio in the City Plan 2020.  This provision is in line with the provisions of Section 17, Act 267.

DBKL said of the 42 plots involved, three applications were gazetted for change, six are in the gazetting process while 33 plots are still under consideration.

“All these processes have been in accordance with the provisions enshrined in the existing act.” – November 19, 2020.
