THE government is not planning to impose enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur despite an increase in Covid-19 cases, said senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“There is no need to impose EMCO in the whole of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. We impose the EMCO on targeted areas such as Medan 88 in Sepang or at the Top Glove dormitory in Klang.
“Selangor and Kuala Lumpur are already under the conditional MCO,” said Ismail Sabri.
Last week, Medan 88, a commercial and residential development in Salak Tinggi, Sepang was placed under EMCO from November 12 until 25.
The EMCO is expected to involve 88 shop lots, 284 premises and 800 residents.
As of November 5, a total of 39 positive cases have been reported in the area.
Two days ago, Ismail Sabri announced EMCO at the Top Glove workers’ dormitory in Klang until November 30.
The EMCO will involve the male workers’ dormitory area and Jalan Abadi 1A/KU8.
Also affected is the female workers’ dormitory area, Jalan Abadi 1A and Jalan Abadi 10A/KU8.
“The lockdown will affect 13,190 employees and nearly 1,200 inhabitants,” Ismail Sabri added. – November 18, 2020.
