BARISAN Nasional (BN) secretary-general Annuar Musa today urged “like-minded” political parties to join in a grand coalition to save the country.

His call comes days after Dr Mahathir Mohamad had said there was a need for a unity government that crosses political lines as the people have become increasingly frustrated and bored with political shenanigans in the midst of a global health crisis.

Taking to Facebook, Annuar said parties such as Parti Warisan Sabah, Dr Mahathir’s Pejuang, youth-based party Muda and independent parties like Berjasa, Indian Progressive Front (IPF), Makkal Sakti, and Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) can also be part of the grand coalition.

The Ketereh MP said the grand coalition should not just be limited to Malay-based parties but must include more than 10 parties with the same direction.

“What is important is that we move away from politics that revolve around personalities. We need to enhance the politics of uniting the ummah that prioritises stability, national endurance and the people’s interests.

“Independent parties opposing Pakatan Harapan can be part of the coalition. They are Warisan, Muda, Pejuang, Berjasa, IPF, Makkal Sakti and PCM, among others,” he said.
