502 caught flouting partial lockdown rules

MORE than 500 individuals were caught breaching the conditional movement-control order (CMCO) guidelines in the past 24 hours, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Of the 502 total, 470 were compounded while 32 were remanded, he said in a statement today.

Among the offences are failure to comply with physical distancing (204), not wearing masks (99), premises operating over permitted hours and without permission (63), failure to record customer details (55), crossing districts (40) and others (41).

Meanwhile, he said 38 illegal immigrants and two middleman (tekong) have been detained in Op Benteng. 

“Police also recovered were eight vehicles and 250 roadblocks were set up by the police, army and border control.”

Ismail Sabri said the government will take stern action against those trying to enter the country illegally and enforcement agencies will continue tightening control at the country’s borders. 

He added that from July 24 to yesterday, 66,823 individuals have returned to Malaysia from overseas.

“Of that number, 9,569 individuals are undergoing the compulsory quarantine process while 388 individuals have been sent to hospital for treatment.

“A total of 56,866 individuals were discharged and allowed to return home.” – November 14, 2020.
