THE Health Ministry is willing to speak and listen to a nurse who travels nearly 450km daily for work, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said that they are ready to consider a placement near the place where she currently resides.

“I’m not sure if she had applied with the Health Ministry (for a transfer).

“I’m not sure about the issue she has but certainly we are more than happy to listen and consider a new posting nearby for her,” she said.

Today, The Star reported that a nurse’s daily one-way journey was about 225km from her home in Malacca to her workplace at Hospital Tunku Aminah in Johor Baru.

It was said that the middle-aged nurse would take about three hours to reach her workplace from her home and that it could take the nurse longer if there were traffic jams along the North-South Expressway during peak period.

The nurse also told the cops manning the roadblock that she made the long trip every day due to family commitments. – November 11, 2020.
