Covid-19 recoveries pass 31,000 mark

COVID-19 recoveries in Malaysia passed the 31,000 mark with 769 discharged today, as the nation reported 822 new infections, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Today marked the fourth straight day of three-digit cases. 

Sabah recorded the highest daily new infections with 259 cases, or 31.5% of today’s total, while Klang Valley reported 202 or 24.6% of cases today. 

As for recoveries, Sabah also recorded the highest nationwide with 553, followed by Selangor (98) and Negri Sembilan (39). 

Overall recoveries is 31,073 while the total number of infections so far is 42,872. 

The number of active cases now stands at 11,497.

“The partial lockdown in Sabah is working, as cases are reducing.

“In probably two to three weeks, it is expected to go down further,” Noor Hisham said at a press conference in Putrajaya today. 

This is the 36th consecutive day that Sabah topped other states in daily Covid-19 cases. 

Malaysia also reported two fatalities today, bringing the death toll to 302. 

Both deaths were reported in Sabah and both victims were women. 

The first victim was 27 and the second was 67. Both had underlying medical conditions. 

A total of 82 patients are currently treated in intensive care, with 30 of them requiring breathing assistance. – November 11, 2020.
