Malaysia’s Covid-19 death toll reaches 300 mark

THE Covid-19 death toll in Malaysia reached the 300 mark today after the authorities recorded six more deaths today, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

According to Noor Hisham, all the deaths today were reported in Sabah.

Malaysia also recorded 869 new infections today, taking the nation’s cumulative cases to 42,050.

For the 35th straight day Sabah recorded the highest daily infection rate, with 397 cases or 45.7% of today’s nationwide total.

Besides Sabah, there were 258 cases in the Klang Valley or 29.7% of today’s total.

Sabah’s total cases since the onset of the pandemic now stands at 21,189.

On the six Covid-19 deaths today, Noor Hisham said four were men and two were women. 

Four out of the six victims also had underlying medical issues.

The oldest victim was an 84-year-old man who had Parkinson’s disease, a swollen prostate and Hepatitis B.

The youngest death was aged 47, who had no past medical history. 

Malaysia also reported 725 recoveries today, taking the total number to 30,304.

Sabah reported 356 recoveries, followed by Selangor (160) and Negri Sembilan (46).

The number of active cases stands at 11,446, with 82 admitted to intensive care units and 27 requiring breathing assistance. – November 10, 2020.
