THE enhanced movement control order (ECMO) in Taman Mawar, Sandakan, in Sabah has ended but has been extended for the city’s Taman Mesra.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the extension was agreed to by the National Security Council after finding that there are still 91 active cases of Covid-19 in the neighbourhood.

“Because the number of cases is still high, we decided to extend the EMCO from November 11 to November 24,” said Ismail Sabri.

“As for Taman Mawar, as of November 6, the Health Ministry has screened 731 people and 87 were found positive.

“To date 64 have recovered while 23 are still being treated.

“Today’s meeting decided to end the EMCO in Taman Mawar,” Ismail Sabri said.

Both areas in Sandakan were placed under the EMCO from October 28 until November 10.

The EMCO in the two areas affected 5,100 homes and 22,500 people. – November 10, 2020.
