EMCO in 4 areas extended, says Ismail Sabri

THE National Security Council has extended the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) on four areas while ending it in another two, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

NSC also imposed an EMCO on Kg Sabah Baru in Lahad Datu.

“NSC has met and assessed the situation and decided that the EMCO will be extended in four areas as there are still new positive Covid-19 cases,” said the Senior Minister (Defence) in his daily press conference today.

The four areas – Pangsapuri Mutiara Kasih and Taman Khazanah Indah in Lahad Datu, Sabah; Plaza Hentian Kajang, Hulu Langat, in Selangor, Putra Point, Nilai, Negri Sembilan and Kg Haji Baki in Kuching – will be under the strictest curbs for another 14 days.

The lockdown in the Lahad Datu areas will now end on November 23), while the ones in Kajang, Nilai and Kuching will end the following day. 

The two areas that have completed their EMCO are Felda Umas in Kalabakan, Sabah, and Flat Sg Emas in Kuala Langat, Selangor.

Ismail said all the residents of these two areas have been screened for Covid-19 and no new infection have been detected.

Meanwhile, 704 people were compounded and 11 remanded while another two were given bail for flouting CMCO regulations.

Ismail said  205 were caught for not practicing social distancing, 118 for not wearing masks, 110 premises for operating beyond the permitted time, 103 entertainment outlets and 73 premises that did not maintain records and 63 for crossing state lines.

Another 37 were fined for having more than two people in the vehicle. – November 9, 2020.
